Showers Wins Prestigious Award

Mel Showers, who retired from WKRG last year, was recently honored with a National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences Suncoast Chapter Emmy Gold Circle award and received his recognition through a virtual event, the station reports. The accolade recognizes television broadcasters who have worked with distinction for a minimum of five decades in Florida, Louisiana, the Mobile/Pensacola TV market and Puerto Rico. To date, only nine people have received it.
