WKRG News 5 Names Jackson As Sports Director

WKRG News 5 has named Josh Jackson as its new sports director. Jackson is a Mississippi native and has traveled across the country covering sports and news stories. Before moving to Mobile, he worked in Kansas City as a broadcast journalism professor and journalist. He has worked in Ohio, Mississippi, Kansas and Missouri, where he covered everything from politics to sports. He earned an Emmy Award for his coverage while serving as a sports director at a Mississippi station. He will be leading the station’s multiplatform sports coverage on WKRG-TV, WKRG.com and the station’s streaming app WKRG+. Jackson graduated from Belhaven University, where he was named the school’s Young Alumnus of the Year in 2018. He earned a master’s degree from Jackson State University, which is where he later began teaching. He also served as an adjunct professor at Wiley University in Texas.
