Shrimp Festival Planned For October In Gulf Shores

The Annual National Shrimp Festival is planning to go ahead with this year’s iteration on October 7-10 after last year’s event was cancelled due to the pandemic. The Coastal Alabama Business Chamber and Shrimp Festival Committee have been working with the City of Gulf Shores to hold the volunteer-led event at the intersection of Highway 59 and East Beach Boulevard. They said the festival footprint is its largest yet, providing “plenty of room to socially distance, and the design will reflect that.” They added that reservations are still very high, with estimations of 250,000 in attendance. Entertainment will include Livin’ On A Prayer: A Bon Jovi Tribute, Never Stop Believin’: A Journey Tribute, Highway To Hell: The Ultimate AC/DC Tribute Band, Absolute Queen Rocks, Trent Tomlinson and The Velcro Pygmies. Additionally, there will be a Golf Challenge for Education on September 10 at Craft Farms Golf Resort and a Miss Shrimp Festival Pageant on September 11 at the Gulf Shores Cultural Center. October 9 will see the 5/10 K 2021 Shrimp Festival Run on the Hugh S. Branyon Backcountry Trail beginning 7 a.m.
