Two New Additions for Port Of Mobile
AL.com recently reported on two companies coming to the Port of Mobile: Ray-Mont Logistics and Ren Seafoods. Combined, they are to bring more than 100 new jobs and $30 million in capital investment. The Mobile Area Chamber of Commerce said Ray-Mont will develop a high-tech logistics park near the port with partners Alabama Export and Canadian National railroads. The company operates facilities in Montreal, Vancouver, British Columbia and Seattle. With a total investment of $19 million, it is expected to open in early 2022, eventually expand to five times its initial capacity and create 50 new jobs with average annual pay of $70,000. The chamber said Ren Seafoods will locate its seafood processing facility and distribution hub in the old Smith’s Bakery building on the west I-65 service road. It will also take advantage of the recently completed MTC Logistics cold-storage facility at the port. Intending to create “a hub for seafood distribution covering the Southeast,” the company is the first to come to Mobile expressly to be near the MTC facility. It will invest $12.4 million in the site and create 54 jobs. Construction is expected to begin this spring and finish this year.
