Alabama Power Foundation Donates to Social Justice Scholarship

The Alabama Power Foundation has announced a donation to the University of South Alabama’s Leadership in Social Justice and Perseverance Scholarship. The undisclosed amount will be matched dollar-for-dollar through the Mitchell Moulton Scholarship Initiative at the university. “The Alabama Power Foundation is proud to partner with the University of South Alabama, 100 Black Men of Mobile and other donors in this important scholarship effort,” commented Tequila Smith, Alabama Power vice president of charitable giving and president of the foundation. The grant is the largest corporate donation the scholarship, established last year by 100 Black Men of Greater Mobile in partnership with the school, has received yet. Including donations from additional corporations including Hancock Whitney Bank, AT&T Foundation, Regions Bank and individuals, more than $137,000 has been raised for the scholarship. The number totals $274,000 with Mitchell Moulton Scholarship Initiative matching funds.
