BCCAC Funded With State Grant

Baldwin County’s CARE House Inc. (Baldwin County Child Advocacy Center; BCCAC) has been awarded $99,840 to serve those who have experienced child abuse, Gulf Coast Media reported. The grant was among seven totaling nearly $1 million that are going toward 16 agencies in South Alabama to help bring awareness to child abuse. The Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs is administering the grants using funds made available by the U.S. Department of Justice. Nikki Whitaker, executive director of BCCAC, noted that the money received from the grant is used for the direct services the center offers. These include forensic interviewing, therapy and family advocates. The yearly federal grant is BCCAC’s largest source of funding.
