Elizabeth’s Crayons Accepting Donations, Sets Event

Elizabeth’s Crayons, which collects coloring books, crayons, colored pencils and markers for children and families in the Mobile area, is again partnering with the City of Mobile Community Affairs Department (CAD). The nonprofit’s founder, Malcolm Banks, is a graduate of the Mobile’s C251 Citizens Academy. Banks began the annual coloring book drive in 2021 to honor his late mother, Angeline Elizabeth Jones, who loved coloring. The CAD will be accepting donations on behalf of Elizabeth’s Crayons in the atrium of Government Plaza through June 6. Elizabeth’s Crayons will be making the donated items available to the public on June 7 at 9 a.m.-1 p.m. at Stewart Memorial CME Church. Health screenings and other community resources will also be available at the event.
