Ellis Named To PAA Board

The Parkinson Association of Alabama (PAA) has announced that, to expand its footprint and geographic reach into South Alabama, it has named Gary Ellis, retired founder of hospitality-focused Compass Media from Gulf Shores, a board member for 2023. The PAA Board of Directors is charged with 100% participation in guiding the nonprofit organization’s strategy and plan to deliver its mission of improving the quality of life for patients, caregivers and families affected by Parkinson’s throughout the state. Others approved to serve as board members include Lamar Clark, owner of CTS Excavations in Scottsboro, Alabama; Kate Cotton, who has had a long career at Protective Life Corporation, serving in her last position as vice president of community relations and executive director of the Protective Life Foundation; Dr. Ashley Harms, an associate professor with the University of Alabama Birmingham Heersink School of Medicine department of neurology; and Donna Smith, retired vice-president of human resources and ethics from Alabama Power Co.
