Homeless Aid Events Coming Up

The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Continuum of Care and Housing First, Inc. are preparing for the annual Point-in-Time count, which engages those experiencing homelessness in Mobile and Baldwin counties. The extensive survey will take place on January 25 in conjunction with other nonprofits across the country. The information will be submitted to HUD to better understand the needs of those experiencing homelessness. It also gives Housing First an opportunity to communicate information about its upcoming event, Project Homeless Connect, being held on January 28 at 8 a.m.-2 p.m. at The Grounds. This event provides assistance and resources to those experiencing homelessness, including healthcare, legal assistance, housing assistance, veterans’ resources, employment services, hygiene services and clothing. Transportation both to and from the event will be provided in Mobile via The Wave Transit System at scheduled pickup points.
