Hope Community Fundraiser For Fairhope Property Repurposing

The Fairhope Times reports that the Baldwin County Board of Education has approved the sale of the former Alternative/Anna T. Jeanes school property at 705 Twin Beech Road to the City of Fairhope for $100, plus the city’s commitment to continue supporting recreational facilities used by school students. The 14-acre property, vacant since 2015, is no longer needed for school purposes and is designated for future public use, including recreation and community education. The nonprofit Hope Community plans to repurpose the site for a teaching farm, community gardens and a history/cultural center, with a 5K Race/Walk fundraiser scheduled for January 4, 2025, on the property. Booths from talented local makers and growers are to be set up under the oaks, and awards will be given to top overall male and female runners and the top three runners in each of nine age groups for males and females.
