LCIF Has New Emergency Response Trailer
FOLEY, Ala — The Lions Club International Foundation (LCIF) recently revealed a new Emergency Response trailer that can be used during disaster situations, Gulf Coast Media reported. The trailer will be stocked with nonperishable items including mops, brooms, a generator, a leaf blower, an awning, tarpaulins, heavy-duty plastic, diapers and underwear. Multiple districts within Alabama, including LCIF District 34C, which includes Baldwin County, purchased trailers after devastating events including Hurricane Sally and tornados in northern Alabama. Following Sally’s destruction, LCIF district governor requested a $10,000 grant to help with emergency-relief efforts. Foley received approximately $1,300 of the funds, while Gulf Shores received $2,000. The Foley Lion’s Club used the funds to purchase hot meals from Wolf Bay Restaurant and give them out for free to community members. However, cleaning supplies and items included within the emergency response trailer were scarce. This one, however, is fully equipped and costs a total of $12,000. The largest portion was paid by LCIF, with individual Lions Clubs donating additional funds.
