Prodisee Pantry Completes Rigorous Accreditation

SPANISH FORT, Ala. — Spanish Fort-based nonprofit Prodisee Pantry has been accredited as an ethics and accountability seal recipient from the Standards for Excellence Institute, Gulf Coast Media reported. The organization is the only nonprofit in Baldwin County to receive the accreditation, according to Executive Director Deann Servos. It is one of just 23 in the state and one of 162 out of the 1.6 million 501(c)(3) nonprofits in the U.S. to receive it. The Standards for Excellence Institute evaluates fundamental values such as honesty, integrity, fairness, respect, trust, responsibility and accountability. Prodisee Pantry’s programs and services, management, fundraising and financial practices were subjected to in-depth examination prior to earning accreditation. “This is a very painstaking process that has taken nearly five years to complete,” said Prodisee Board President Mark Wolfe. Since Prodisee Pantry opened in 2003, staff and volunteers have made nearly 200,000 family visits. It distributes more than 1 million lb of food each year.
