The Lighthouse Celebrates 30 Years This Month

The Lighthouse (Baldwin Family Violence Shelter) is celebrating 30 years of service this month. The work began in September 1994 by a small group of Baldwin County Citizens with the aim of providing a safe place for women and children escaping a domestic violence situation. Following the first few years with a small shelter, a crisis line, counseling services and a support group for victims, a new residential shelter was built, and a new program was added to serve victims of sexual assault. Over the years, The Lighthouse has expanded its service area to include the Alabama counties of Conecuh, Escambia and Monroe. To celebrate this milestone, The Lighthouse is holding a private anniversary luncheon on September 17 for those who have supported its mission.
