City Of Foley Donates Building To South Baldwin Chamber

The Foley City Council recently finalized approval on the donation of the city’s previous engineering department building to the South Baldwin Chamber of Commerce, Gulf Coast Media reported. The South Baldwin Chamber is currently on Underwood Road in Foley, and the new South Baldwin Chamber location will be 200 North Alston Street. The ordinance states the deeded property can only be used for the primary location of the South Baldwin Chamber for a period of five years from the day of conveyance. During that time, the South Baldwin Chamber cannot sell, lease or convey any interest in the property, or it will revert to the city. The Foley Engineering Department is moving to 200 Laurel Avenue. Future plans include the construction of a new building that will house the city’s engineering and public works departments. The proposed location for the new building is on 13 acres on North Poplar and Section streets. The projected cost of the project is $7 million. Construction is slated to begin by this fall.
