Improvements Announced For Swift-Coles Historic Home

The Board of Directors of the Baldwin County Historic Development Commission (BCHDC) and the Friends of Swift-Coles have announced a new capital improvement project at the Swift-Coles Historic Home in Bon Secour. A groundbreaking ceremony for an event pavilion to be built on the grounds of the home was recently held. Sponsorships for the project are available at three levels, each including permanent recognition as a partner in the endeavor and an opportunity to attend the opening celebration later this year. Swift-Coles is Baldwin County’s only publicly owned historic home regularly opened for tours. Originally built in the 1880s as a four-room dogtrot cabin, the community landmark is a popular venue for weddings and other gatherings. To better meet the needs of the community it serves, the Friends of Swift-Coles are working with BCHDC, the home’s administrators, to plan for an onsite event pavilion suitable for use by families, businesses and public and private groups for special occasions.
