January 10 Real Estate Update

According to AL.com, Mobile County paid $1.25 million for 48 acres at 3461 Halls Mill Road in Mobile, according to Crawford Stitt of White-Spunner Realty, who represented the seller. The property is adjacent to the Mobile County Sportsplex and will be developed as part of the Sportsplex. Matt White of Coastal Alabama Real Estate represented the buyer. Also, AutoZone has leased 10,080 ft2 in Paradise Isle Shopping Center at 1720 Gulf Shores Parkway in Gulf Shores and is to open a store there later this year, according to Crawford Stitt of White-Spunner Realty. AutoZone will be located next to the newly opened Publix. The Gulf Shores City Council is expected to award a construction contract for the Waterway Village pedestrian bridge to Harrison Construction Company. The Tuscaloosa-based company was the lowest bidder at $24.3 million. The pedestrian bridge will be built across the Intracoastal Waterway and connect the north and south Waterway Village areas. The bridge project is a key component to the BUILD Grant received in 2019 for the Waterway Village Multi-Modal Access Project. Acai & Co., an acai bowl restaurant, has leased 1,200 ft2 in Piccadilly Square at 6543 Airport Boulevard in Mobile and plans to open soon, according to Leigh Dale Younce and Chris Harle of White-Spunner Realty, who represented the landlord. Volume home builder D.R. Horton is seeking to rezone 27.8 acres off Canal Road in Orange Beach from general business to a planned unit development to develop Lost Bay, a townhouse subdivision with 82 lots. The property is south of the Brett/Robinson laundry facility and Posh Interiors and just west of The Island Church.
