Plans Submitted For Building Conversion To Create Apartments

According to Downtown Mobile Today, plans have been submitted to the City of Mobile that would bring three stories of new apartments to an existing building in Downtown Mobile. St. Joseph Street Holdings, LLC has requested approval of proposed renovations to the building located at 100 St. Joseph Street. The project will convert the building’s upper three levels from commercial office space to residential units. The ground level will remain mostly commercial tenant space with a residential lobby accessed from the existing St. Michael Street entrance. The project is seeking historic tax credits and has received conditional approval of its Part II submittal to the National Park Service. Submitted plans propose a total of 36 apartments, 12 units per floor. KPS Group of Birmingham is serving as architect on the project, which is estimated to cost $5.8 million.
