Hope Farm Plans Cuban Chef Dinner

The Hope Farm in Fairhope will celebrate Cuba’s culture, cuisine and historic connections to Mobile on May 22 with a curated Cuban Chef Dinner by Executive Chef Leo Velazquez. Beginning at 6 p.m. , guests will be welcomed to Hope Farm’s Barn with classic cocktails before enjoying a shared, family-style meal and traditional Cuban dessert course. The menu highlights the bold and vibrant flavors of Cuban cuisine, from citrus-marinated meats and slow-roasted pork to sweet plantains and rich, aromatic coffee. As the official sister city organization between Mobile and Havana, the Society Mobile–La Habana is supporting the event as part of its ongoing mission to promote cultural and educational exchange between the sister cities and their communities. Members of the society’s leadership will be in attendance to share more about the organization’s work in Mobile and its efforts to strengthen local ties to Cuba through the arts, culture, travel and education. Guests will also hear from noted local historian John Sledge, who will discuss themes from his latest book, Mobile and Havana: Sisters Across the Gulf
