JBT Power Named Silver Retailer Of The Year

The Alabama Retail Association has named Gregg Wood and his son Ben Wood of JBT Power as the Silver Alabama Retailers of the Year in the “Annual Sales $5 Million to $20 Million” category. Gregg Wood, owner and president of JBT Power and a former helicopter pilot for the U.S. Marines and Army, left a corporate chief operating officer position in 2011. He bought the assets of JB Thomas Inc., a two-employee lawnmower shop on Baldwin County 64. The company was renamed to JBT Power and JBT Power moved to its current location at 1204 Highway 98 in Daphne in 2015. Ben Wood left a position in distribution sales to join the family business in 2021 and serves as sales manager. Significant sales in Mobile and Washington counties, as well as in eastern Mississippi, prompted JBT Power to open a second location in Semmes in May 2022 . The company now has 25 employees. JBT Power’s community involvement, school support and energy played a role in their being given this recognition. The Alabama Retailer of the Year awards, started in 1999, honor retailers who have demonstrated growth, innovation and a commitment to their community. This year’s 11 winners were selected from 57 entries submitted from a pool of 86 nominees.
