Alabama State Parks Launches Junior Park Rangers Program

Alabama State Parks has launched the Junior Park Rangers program. Open to children of all ages, it features activities designed especially for those aged 5-12. Participation is free. Families, school groups and youth organizations are welcome to join. After completing the activities in the Junior Park Ranger Adventure Guide, participants share what they’ve learned with a park ranger at their nearest state park. Then, they receive a certificate of achievement and junior park ranger badge. Once they are junior park rangers, children are charged with a list of responsibilities that include showing respect for wildlife by observing wild animals from a distance and never feeding them, leaving no trace by disposing of waste and not disturbing the natural features in the park, and staying safe by using established trails and durable surfaces for camping sites.
