Bids Opened For Stockton Bridge, Boardwalk

Baldwin County has opened bids for a pedestrian bridge and boardwalk that would connect Live Oak Landing to Bicentennial Park in Stockton, WKRG reports. The Baldwin County Commission has begun the bid process using nearly $2 million of Gulf of Mexico Energy Security Act (GOMESA) money. The new 1,500-ft-long raised boardwalk will connect the properties so that those visiting both will not have to make the mile-long drive between them. Additionally, there will be signage with QR codes, and visitors traveling the path will be able to see its historical features. Construction is expected to begin this summer. County leaders say more improvements will come to the landing and park because camping, fishing, disc golf and other recreational uses are attracting visitors to Stockton.
