Chickasabogue Park To Close For Improvements

MOBILE COUNTY, Ala — Chickasabogue Park will be closed to the public beginning January 31 for infrastructure and amenity improvements, as approved by the Mobile County Commission. The park will be closed until construction and renovation work, estimated to take at least a year, is complete. RV campground reservations are currently not being accepted. The nearest alternate boat launch is at William Brooks Park at 601 Highway 43 in Chickasaw. Park renovation includes infrastructure work like water, sewer and road work, as well as construction of an events and interpretive center, a playground/splash pad area, an RV campground, parking areas, a boat ramp, additional disc golf holes and new restrooms. Trails, basketball courts and pavilions will also be enhanced. The improvements are part of the Mobile County Commission’s multiyear, $40-million parks improvement initiative that includes $35 million for increased public access to water. The Mobile County Commission’s parks improvement initiative is made possible through funding generated by the Gulf of Mexico Energy Security Act. Part of the local conservation plan is to increase public access to shoreline recreational areas, such as along the Chickasabogue Creek.
