City Invites Volunteers To Share Time, Talents Through New Program

The City of Mobile is asking residents to donate their time and share their talents with teens as part of the Harmon CARES (Community Access, Resources, Education and Support) Summer Program, a partnership between the City of Mobile Parks and Recreation Department and the Public Safety Department’s Office of Prevention and Mitigation. Held at the Harmon-Thomas Community Center at 1611 Belfast Street, Harmon CARES invites community members and local businesses to spend a minimum of 1 h helping to mentor and educate local teens on topics in which they have expertise. Through hands-on activities, mentorship, demonstrations, workshops and future career exposure, the program aims to provide local youth with meaningful experiences that encourage growth, confidence and decision-making skills. Participants from a variety of careers, including artists, musicians, entrepreneurs, pastors, barbers and chefs, are invited to sign up. The program will run on weekdays through July 24 from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Harmon-Thomas Community Center.
