Gulf Shores High School Names Softball Coach

The Gulf Shores Lady Dolphins softball team welcomes Haley Hopkins-Steege as new head coach, according to a recent report from The Islander. Hopkins-Steege is a third-year history teacher at Gulf Shores High and served as associate head coach in the softball program the last two years. She is also a Gulf Shores High School alumna and was inducted into its hall of fame in 2018. Hopkins-Steege played softball at the University of South Alabama, where her team competed for and won the program’s first National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Sun Belt Conference Championship. The team also made it to the NCAA Regional Tournament championship game. She previously coached the Spanish Fort High School softball team, leading the Toros to the regional tournament in her final season. Hopkins-Steege holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology, a master’s degree in education and is an ACT Certified Educator.
