JAG Football Completes New Coaching Staff

University of South Alabama Jaguars football coach Kane Wommack has completed his on-field staff with the hiring of three assistants, according to Al.com. The Jaguars have added Landius Wilkerson as defensive line coach, Jamael Lett as special teams coordinator/nickelbacks coach and Michael Smith as wide receivers coach. These three join seven coaches — including offensive coordinator Major Applewhite and defensive coordinator Corey Batoon — who were hired last month. Additional support staff hires are yet to be announced. Wommack spent two seasons as defensive coordinator at Indiana University, where he was a finalist for the Broyles Award as the top assistant coach in the country in 2020. He was South Alabama’s defensive coordinator under Joey Jones in 2016-2017 and then coached linebackers for a year at Indiana before being promoted to run the entire defense.
