MIS To Resume Races July 15

The Mobile International Speedway (MIS) is set to reopen July 15 after races were halted earlier this year due to a management change, WKRG reports. It was recently announced that local business owner Eddie Shoemaker would be taking over operations. Shoemaker has operated the adjacent US-90 Dragway for the last three years, to which he brought significant upgrades. He has a similar mentality for MIS, with upgrades to the grandstands and bathrooms as the biggest priorities this summer. Shoemaker has also made some other changes: Hoosier Tires is set to become the new tire for MIS, and drivers will use Sunoco race fuel for the rest of the 2023 season. When racing resumes, all five divisions will take center stage, including “Pro Late Models,” “Trucks,” “Sportsman,” “Pure Stocks” and “Legacy Stocks.” MIS has operated since 1965, making it one of the oldest operating short tracks in the country.
