Mobile Takes Next Step Toward Transfer Of Ladd-Peebles

The Mobile City Council voted this week to authorize the intergovernmental agreement with the Mobile County Public School System for the purchase and sale of Ladd-Peebles Stadium, FOX10 reports. The city had proposed a sale of the stadium to the school system for $1. This was after the city revealed it was taking over the stadium’s operations over concerns of long-term financial stability and management issues. If the sale is approved, the school system would still allow the community to continue to use the walking track around the stadium, and the stadium will still host the three Historically Black Colleges & Universities games scheduled for this fall. “The proposed transfer of Ladd-Peebles to the Mobile County Public School System marks a significant milestone in ensuring the continued success of this historic sports and entertainment complex. By selling the facility to MCPSS and investing in future renovations, the City of Mobile is making a decisive move towards securing the long-term financial stability and modernization of Ladd-Peebles,” said Mobile Chamber President & CEO Bradley Byrne.
