More Improvements Coming To Foley’s Mel Roberts Park

Savings on an earlier project will provide more money for additional improvements at Mel Roberts Park on Cedar Street in Foley. The Foley City Council approved a second phase of improvements at the park. Money remaining in the project account after phase one will be used to upgrade the field, add irrigation, resod the fields and build a barn between two fields. The first phase of improvements, completed in July 2024, included new ball field lighting, a new bathroom and concession building and new scoreboards. The new project will include installing irrigation and sod on three ball fields. The city will also build a barn to store equipment and mowers and replace fencing and backstop netting. Work on the new project is scheduled to begin in August.
