MPRD To Host Weekend Events With Guard, First Responders

The Mobile Parks and Recreation Department (MPRD) is partnering with the Alabama Army National Guard and local first responders for two events this weekend. Beginning August 8, MPRD’s “Hoops & Heroes” basketball series will bring National Guardsmen together with members of the Mobile Police Department and Mobile Fire-Rescue Department (MFRD) for a basketball showcase. “Hoops & Heroes” will take place at the James Seals Community Center at 540 Texas Street from 5 to 7 p.m. The guard and MFRD are also booked for August 9, when they will stop by for competition at MPRD’s Adult Field Day at Sage Herndon Park from 6 to 9 p.m.
