MSA Announces Record Fiscal Year

The Mobile Sports Authority (MSA), the sports tourism agency for the City of Mobile and Mobile County, has attracted, supported and/or hosted a record 41 sports events during the recently completed 2025 fiscal year, which ran from October 1, 2024, to September 30, 2025. As a result of those events, the year generated an estimated $37.6 million for the Mobile area economy. The events involved 21 different sports, such as football, basketball, bowling, gymnastics, volleyball, baseball, fast-pitch softball, track and field, rugby, cheer, lacrosse, cornhole, road racing/marathon, golf, wrestling, soccer, tennis, pole vault, auto racing and even a world turkey-calling championship. As a comparison, over the last five years, the MSA has hosted an average of 36 sports events per year. Fifteen of the 41 events held last fiscal year were either first- or second-time events for MSA, and 28 of those 41 events were youth-oriented (with competitors ranging from ages 4-19). Those youth events typically attract more visitors, as more family members tend to travel for them. “In total since 2012, the MSA has attracted, hosted, managed and/or co-managed 433 sporting events, which have provided an estimated $305-plus million economic boost for the Mobile area,” MSA said.
