Park Work Underway For Grand Bay

Grand Bay will soon have a new park, Old Town Park, in its Old Town Historical District, The Connection reports. A $5,000 grant from the Gulf Coast Resource Conservation and Development Council helped Citizens for a Better Grand Bay (CBGB) purchase and begin work on an approximately 2-acre park, to have walking trails educating visitors on native plants and offering views of ornamental camellias, oaks and magnolias, may of which are 100 years old or older. Picnic tables will dot the property, and benches will be placed along the trail. While it will be able to serve the Grand Bay Library and local schools immediately after opening, the park is to eventually include an outdoor classroom area that will be available for use for art shows, plays, live music, weddings and more. A gazebo is also planned. Though a fundraising campaign is yet to be launched, donations are being accepted at email via Paypal and at CBGB, P.O. Box 274, Grand Bay, Alabama 36541 via check.
