RCX, State Partnership To Bring Youth Sports To Mobile

Alabama is the first state to form a collaboration with RCX Sports, which will bring RCX’s youth sports programs to 90 Alabama Recreation & Parks Association (ARPA) agencies, including the Mobile Parks and Recreation Department. RCX offers experiential youth sports opportunities in collaboration with major professional sports leagues, such as National Football League (NFL) FLAG; National Hockey League STREET; and Major League Baseball Pitch, Hit & Run and Jr. Home Run Derby, designed to empower youth athletes of all backgrounds to “Play with the Pros.” RCX will provide the equipment for these programs and facilitate the setup process for ARPA member agencies. Alabama native, NFL veteran and University of Alabama at Birmingham football alum Izell Reese is leading this initiative as CEO of RCX. Established in 1943, ARPA is a nonprofit that enables parks and recreation affiliates and professionals, through educational and networking opportunities, to enhance the quality of life for Alabamians. The programs are expected to begin this summer.
