Six Mobile County Stadiums To Get Artificial Turf

The board of the Mobile County Public School System has recommended the Allred Architectural Group of Mobile install artificial turf at six high school football stadiums that currently have grass fields, Call News reported. Artificial turf is to be installed at the Baker, Blount, Alma Bryant, Citronelle, Mary G. Montgomery and Theodore high school stadiums. Bids on the turf will be opened in February 2023. The plan is to stagger the installations, one or two at a time, to keep most of the stadiums available for use. The project will be funded through a bond issue and, according to Superintendent Cheresal Threadgill, will “cut down on a lot of supplies and materials needed for labor. We won’t have to worry about painting the fields every week. We won’t have to worry about cutting the grass. It’s going to help on our equipment, so it’s going to be a huge cost savings.”
