USSA Names President And CEO
After a year-long nationwide candidate search, Dr. Steve Condon, a longtime chancellor, university president, collegiate athletics director, coach, professor and higher-education leader, has been selected as the third president and CEO of the United States Sports Academy (USSA). He most recently served as chancellor of Carolina University. He succeeds Dr. T.J. Rosandich, who served as academy president and CEO for the last seven years and will retire at the end of this year. Condon earned his PhD in Education from the University of Mississippi and did postdoctoral study work in educational management at Harvard University. He also holds an Education Specialist degree from the University of Alabama, a master’s degree in Curriculum Design and Development from Florida State University and a bachelor’s degree in Education from Boston State College. Condon has served as the vice president of Huntington College, St. Thomas University, Reinhardt University and LeTourneau University. In addition to his academic work, Condon was also a coach and athletic director in several of his previous positions. In 2014, he was elected into the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Coaches Hall of Fame for his work coaching golf at Huntington College and was selected as the National Coach of the Year five times. His golf coaching saw him win four national titles, a world silver medal in 1986 and a world gold medal in 1988.
