Alabama Power Chooses Mitsubishi Power Equipment

Alabama Power has chosen Mitsubishi Power’s JAC gas turbine, steam turbine and heat recovery steam generator for its James M. Barry Electric Generating Plant in Bucks, the companies announced. Intended to help meet future reliability needs for customers, the powerful combination will be installed by Mitsubishi Power and Black & Veatch. The unit’s reliability is rated at 99.5%, and its efficiency exceeds 64%, which the announcement says “provides industry-leading performance and flexibility to help Alabama Power meet the demands of its customers for clean and reliable energy.” The project is expected to employ more than 300 during construction and approximately 30 permanent employees.
