Baldwin County Utilities Take On 18 Interns

BALDWIN COUNTY, Ala. — Riviera Utilities recently announced that 18 rising seniors from Baldwin County high schools will spend their summer at Daphne Utilities, Gulf Shores Utilities, North Baldwin Utility or Riviera Utilities as part of the utilities’ Summer Utility Internship Program (SUIT). The program, which launched in 2021, involves close partnership with the Southwest Alabama Workforce Development Commission and Baldwin County Board of Education. This year, Riviera will have 10 interns, North Baldwin and Gulf Shores will each have three, and Daphne will have two. The interns at each provider will complete safety training and orientation, and work alongside their supervisor and other employees. Each student will also be assigned a mentor while working 40 hours per week between June 6 and August 5. Riviera Administration Manager Dr. Sharon Cureton added, “We also have plans to hire two of the 2021 interns this summer as full-time employees—a grounds worker and a gas operator.”
