Comcast Expansion For Alabama Port, Mon Louis

MOBILE COUNTY, Ala. — Alabama Gov. Kay Ivey recently announced $26.6 million in grants to help deliver access to high-speed internet to communities in 10 counties, including Mobile County, AL.com reported. A $686,298 grant will provide broadband access to 438 households, businesses and public institutions in the communities of Alabama Port and Mon Louis. The grant will help fund Comcast Cable Communications’ expansion work, and links to make future expansion more feasible will be included. The grants come from the Broadband Accessibility Fund program administered by the Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs. Broadband providers make the service available, but households and businesses pay to connect to the service.
