Funds Confirmed For Bayou La Batre Wastewater Treatment Plant

U.S. Sen. Katie Britt recently secured $1.97 million to make critical updates to the Bayou La Batre Wastewater Treatment Plant, FOX10 reports. These funds are to help improve the safety, efficiency and reliability of the plant. Executive Director of Utilities Dan McCrory said securing the funds was a process and that the grant will impact the community as a whole. “Being able to get this stuff either rebuilt, repaired or replaced is environmentally sound,” McCrory said. “It’s good for long-term use to take care of not only the bay, but for the Portersville Bay as a whole for everybody.” Britt said the upgrades will help almost 5,000 individual customers. The grants will be awarded in fiscal year 2025.
