New Recycling Dropoff Center, Visitor Center Coming To DIP

Mobile Mayor Sandy Stimpson recently announced that, as part of a grant from the Alabama Department of Environmental Management, the City of Mobile has selected a property on Dauphin Island Parkway (DIP) to house its third recycling dropoff center. The new location will be at 1750 Dauphin Island Parkway, next to the Waffle House. Construction is already underway, and the site is to be up and running by the end of the year. The Peninsula of Mobile, which has partnered with the City of Mobile on several environmental projects in the area, also plans to build a visitor information center at the site after the dropoff facility is up and running. Last year, the city collected 911 tons of recyclable material from its existing dropoff centers on Museum and Pinehill drives.
