Government Plaza Pocket Park Bid Awarded

The Mobile County Commission has awarded the $1.4-million construction contract for Mobile Government Plaza’s new pocket park to J. Payne Organization, LLC. It will be in the courtyard nestled between Government Plaza and the Government Plaza Annex, bounded by Government and Conception streets. The park is funded through American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 (ARPA) funds. It was included in the ARPA Strategic Spending Plan approved by the Mobile County Commission in August 2022. WAS Design Landscape Architects designed and engineered the park. Construction is expected to begin in April 2025 and be completed in less than a year.
