African American Heritage Trail Named To Top List

Visit Mobile is celebrating the Dora Franklin Finley African American Heritage Trail, which earned the No. 4 spot on USA Today‘s 10Best Readers’ Choice Awards for Best History Tour in 2026. The trail was included in the initial list of 20 tours around the nation by a panel of experts for its compelling, well-researched storytelling and guides who know how to truly engage their guests. According to USA Today, “Mobile’s African American history runs deep, and the Dora Franklin Finley African American Heritage Trail makes sure it’s visible to all. Guided tours trace the remarkable legacy of Black Mobilians across generations from slavery and Reconstruction through the Civil Rights era, connecting landmarks that standard city maps tend to overlook.” This recognition highlights the excellence and innovation found in the Heritage Trail’s organization.
