Convention Center Features Four Murals, To Add More

MOBILE, Ala. — The Mobile Convention Center’s parking garage is now home to four beautiful murals, and there are plans for many more. Visit Mobile Regional Director of Operations Brandt Wilhelm had the idea for the murals in 2018 when the Southeastern Theatre Conference was held at the Convention Center and attending students took turns painting the Azalea Trail Maids. Wilhelm has since recruited art students from the University of Mobile and Bishop State Community College to complete unique works of art. The most recent is a product of months of work by Convention Center and Visit Mobile staff. It is composed of 22 individual paintings that depict historical and notable images of the city. Wilhelm said that for future murals, he would like to partner with more artists to finish the walls throughout the garage.
