MAC Kicks Off Two Exhibits On March 4

The Mobile Arts Council (MAC) has announced two new exhibits for March. Cherie Peters’s exhibit, “At the Water’s Edge,” evokes an earthy aesthetic with her mixed-media compositions integrating found objects onto wood, paper or acrylic. She has earned recognition and awards at many juried contemporary art shows by creating modern textured compositions using ancient encaustic techniques. Additionally, Derek Norman returns to the MAC Gallery to present his art and that of his students in the Mobile Botanical Gardens’ art program. Their collection, “Homage to the Trees of DeTonti,” will present oils, pastels, watercolors and pen-and-ink pieces. The exhibits will be open for free viewing from March 4-28 at the MAC Gallery at Room 1927 at 6 South Joachim St. in Mobile. A joint opening reception will be held there during LoDa ArtWalk on March 13 from 6-9 p.m.
