Startup Weekend Mobile Announced

Innovation Portal, the Mobile Area Chamber of Commerce and community volunteers are hosting Techstars Startup Weekend Mobile at its Innovation Portal in Mobile on April 1-3 after a two-year hiatus. Dubbed “a creative and collaborative three-day educational event where entrepreneurs can develop and pitch new startup ideas,” participants may expect to learn about pitching, business model creation, prototyping, designing and market validation. It will begin with 60-second pitches on the first night, with each attendee describing their best idea and inspiring others to join their team. On the next two days, teams will focus on customer development, validating their ideas, practicing LEAN startup methodologies and building a product. At the end of the event, teams will demonstrate their prototypes, receive feedback from a panel of experts and compete for prizes including pro bono services designed to help entrepreneurs further their goals. Registration, which is $75 for participants and $50 for students (with a $25 discount by using code “EARLYBIRD” at checkout until March 1), is now open.
