Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive Set For Tomorrow

Theodore-based nonprofit Feeding the Gulf Coast has announced the National Association of Letter Carriers’ (NALC) annual Stamp Out Hunger food drive for May 11. Its goal is to collect more than 100,000 lb of food. Those wishing to participate are asked to place non-perishable food item donations in a bag outside their mailboxes in the morning for letter carriers to collect on their route. Feeding the Gulf Coast’s most needed items include canned meats, vegetables and fruit; canned and boxed meals; peanut butter and jelly (in plastic containers); pasta; rice; and cereal and other breakfast items. Individuals should not donate items in glass containers or items that have been opened or homemade. “We are grateful to the NALC and our community for their support through this annual food drive. As our largest single food drive of the year, Stamp Out Hunger is deeply impactful for our one in six neighbors, including one in five children, along the Central Gulf Coast who face the challenge of hunger,” said Michael Ledger, president and CEO of Feeding the Gulf Coast. “Partnerships and community support like this food drive made it possible for Feeding the Gulf Coast to distribute more than 30 million meals in 2023.”
