Coastal Water Quality Projects Announced

MOBILE, BALDWIN COUNTY, Ala. — Gov. Kay Ivey and Conservation Commissioner Chris Blankenship recently announced 12 projects totaling $35 million to advance and implement the state’s Coastal Alabama Regional Water Quality Program, the Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources announced. They include a sewer overflow mitigation project for Fairhope, the Corn Branch Tributary Restoration for Loxley (BBN #93), the Red Gully Stream Bank Stabilization for Baldwin County, the Stormwater Master Plan for Orange Beach, the Coastal Alabama Water Quality and Sediment Baseline Monitoring and Three Mile Creek Headwater Improvements for the University of South Alabama, the Norton Creek Sanitary Sewer Inflow and Infiltration Project for Saraland, a stormwater master plan and drainage and sewer collection system improvements for Dauphin Island, and sewer improvements for Bayou La Batre and Grand Bay. The grant process will begin in the coming months, followed by the implementation of the projects.
