Legacy Gala To Benefit Living Shorelines

The Peninsula of Mobile is honoring the legacy of the SS UNITED STATES as she is being prepared for her final voyage. The Legacy Gala is planned for December 6 at the National Maritime Museum of the Gulf. A black-tie affair, it will feature live music, Mobile Bay oysters, a silent auction, a formal dinner and guest speakers. The Peninsula of Mobile says the event is a fundraiser to aid its partnership with the Mobile Bay National Estuary Program to implement living shorelines along the western shore of Mobile Bay, “transforming our waterfront into a resilient, accessible and environmentally responsible asset for Mobile’s future. This is more than a gala—it’s a movement to restore life to Mobile Bay and preserve our shared coastal legacy.” Tickets are $125, and sponsorships are available.
