Wetland Identification, Delineation Workshop At Weeks Bay

The Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources State Lands Division and the Weeks Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve are holding a Wetland Identification and Delineation Workshop on April 1-3 at 8 a.m.-5 p.m. and April 4 at 8 a.m.-12 p.m. at the Weeks Bay Resource Center in Fairhope. Attendees may gain knowledge and skills to meet wetland conservation goals or regulatory needs. There will also be education on wetland vegetation indicators, hydric soils and hydrology. This workshop will cover the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ three-parameter approach to identifying wetlands and their upper boundaries. Learning through a combination of classroom presentations and examination of field sites in the local area, participants will be trained to recognize wetlands by Gena Todia of Wetland Resources Environmental Consulting of Fairhope and soil scientist Sanderson Page. The registration fee is $250.
