Construction, Architecture Awards From Main Street Mobile
Main Street Mobile recently recognized individuals and entities that “enlivened Downtown Mobile in the past 12 months,” it announced in its Downtown Lowdown newsletter. The winners are usually celebrated during the Downtown Mobile Alliance Annual Luncheon, but this year, they were acknowledged in a separate event. Architect Douglas B. Kearley, who has designed many historic building renovations, both commercial and residential, received an Excellence in Design or Architecture Award, as did The Admiral for the reimagining of the historic hotel. The Engaging Third Place Award went to Innovation Portal for, Main Street Mobile said, “creating a space so fun and inviting that people gather there even when they are not working.” Additionally, Corey Bronenkamp and Kim Knowles were recognized with Excellence in New Construction Awards for new residences in the Dunbar School neighborhood. Excellence in Facade Improvement Awards went to Dr. Gene Terrezza for 223 Dauphin Street and the 164 St. Francis Partnership for the new facade on the building facing Bienville Square. Finally, the Bienville Award went to Ron Barrett and his team, “whose creativity has provided the backdrop for Port City celebrations for decades,” Main Street Mobile said.
