Robertsdale Approves Contract For Waste And Water System Project

The Robertsdale City Council recently approved an engineering contract for a nearly $14-million water and waste system improvement project, Gulf Coast Media reported. The council approved an agreement with Goodwyn, Mills Cawood for the engineering design, bidding and awards services, construction engineering, and inspection and permitting for repairs and upgrades to the city’s wastewater treatment facility and sewer collection system. In October, the council approved a water and waste system grant agreement with the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) that will be used for improvements to the city’s wastewater treatment facility. Under the terms of the agreement, the city has agreed to finance $7.8 million, along with a USDA grant of $6.1 million for a total of $13.9 million for the project. The city is to begin receiving funds from the loan near the end of 2022, and project completion is expected five years later.
